Installing Applications Through the Android Market

The Android Market is essentially Android’s answer to Apple’s iPhone App Store. As of September 2009, the Android Market already offered well over 10,000 applications, and this number has only continued to grow. In addition to the applications the Android Market offers, you can also use it to install other downloaded third party applications.

  1. Copy the APK file to your Android’s memory card and insert the card into your phone.
  2. Download and install the Apps Installer application from the Android Market
  3. Once installed, the Apps Installer will display the APK files on the memory card.
  4. Click and install your APK files.

Installing Applications With Android SDK

It is possible to install APK files without utilizing the Android Market, although the process is more difficult and complex. To avoid the Android Market, you need to use Android SDK.

  1. Download and install the Google Android SDK program and the Android USB drivers. The download links are as follows: http://code.google.com/android/intro/installing.html
  2. http://dl.google.com/android/android_usb_windows.zip
  3. You need to modify your Android’s settings to allow the installation of applications from other sources. Under “Settings,” select “Application Settings” and then enable “Unknown Sources.” Also under “Settings,” select “SD Card” and “Phone Storage,” and finally enable “Disable Use for USB Storage”
  4. This last step is easy. Open Command Prompt and type the following: adb install <1>/<2>.apk
  5. However, when you type the command, replace <1> with the path to your APK file and replace <2> with the name of the APK file.
  6. You’re done! Your application is now ready for your use and enjoyment.

BT Controller v1.4 Apk App

Required: Android O/S : 2.0.1+

Overview: BT Controller allows you to use android devices as gamepad controllers for any other android device.

For example, you can play a snes emulator on your tablet which is connected to a tv, using your phone as the controller. It also works the other way around, you can use your tablet as a controller for your phone or a phone as a controller for another phone etc.

Controllers are fully customizable and you can build your own controllers as well as submit them to Droidbean for others to download. Please send us your own creations using the submission button inside the app and we will review and add them to the controller download section.

As of v1.33 you can now add analog joysticks to controllers.

If the emulator supports it, you can use full analog mode (360 degree rotation with sensitivity / strength based on distance from centre). Currently this includes any mupen based N64 emulator (Eg: Mupen64PLus, AE)

Multiplayer support is also possible if the emulator supports it. You must connect additional devices using the connect button from the new controller and not from the host device.

 Additional features:

 Controller builder / editor

 Download custom controllers

 Joystick support

All hardware keys from controller are sent to host so you can control volume etc.

You can check out more instructional videos on our website:

https://sites.google.com/site/droidbean/btcontroller

If you are unable to watch the youtube video demonstration and instructions you can try to setup BT Controller by following these steps:

Open BT Controller on both devices

Allow bluetooth to turn on by pressing 'Yes' at the prompt

Set one device as visible if you have never connected these devices via bluetooth before (you can do this by pressing the 'Visible' button

Press the connect button on the other device (the one that was not made visible) and then press scan to locate your other device

Once the device comes up in the list select it to connect

Once the devices have connected you will be given the option to select the purpose of the device. Select 'Host' if the device is going to run the emulator or 'Controller' if you plan to use this device as a gamepad

The other device will automatically switch to the appropriate purpose

Connect any additional devices by connecting from the controllers to the host, you can not connect from the host to a new controller.

On the Host, you will need to do 2 things. Enabled the BT Controller Keyboard and Set the BT Controller as active.

A checklist will appear in the top right corner for the host device.

You can click the check boxes to bring up the relevant setting screen to enable and activate the BT Controller keyboard

Once both have been set correctly the checklist will show you the controller device's input for testing. If the input is working correctly you can close the overlay and open up your emulator or game that supports custom input.

Navigate to the input configuration for your emulator or game and set up each button (Key mappings in snesoid, you also need to enable the custom input option in "Other settings".
